POLYAMIDE PRODUCTS
History & knowledgebase on Polyamide Products
Polyamides occur both naturally and artificially. Naturally occurring polyamides are proteins, such as wool and silk.
Artificially made polyamides can be made through polymerization. Nylons, Aramids are also obtain from polyamides
These fibres are strong and used as the filler.Polyamides are particularly useful where energy has to be absorbed and dissipated, and they are also able to resist abrasion.
The polyamides are also used in engineering plastics, for example, in cars, and for making films for food packaging. They are used in films for their good balance between mechanical strength and barrier properties against oxygen, smells and oils.

The properties of the polyamides are high strength, abrasion resistance, and resilience, make them very important in the manufacture of  gland packings.
The gland packings made from polyamides are extremely hard wearing. It shows good chemical resistance, high elasticity and very low cold flow. Compare with other kinds of packing, it can resist more severe media and higher pressure. Polyamides gland packings, can be used for pumps in all types of industry such as chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food and sugar industries, pump and paper mills, power stations etc. It is also a durable packing able to withstand granular and abrasive applications.

Aromatic polyamides are formed by reactions that produce amide linkages between aromatic rings. In practice, this generally means that reaction of aromatic diamines and aromatic diacid chlorides in an amide solvent.
From solutions to these polyamide polymers, it is possible to produce fibers of exceptional heat and flame resistance and fibers of good to quite remarkable tensile strength and modulas. Because the physical property differences between fibres of aromatic aliphatic polyamidesare greater than those between other existing generic classes of fibers, a new generic term for fibers from aromatic polyamides was requested by the DuPont
Polyamide fibers are in which fiber forming substance is a long chain synthetic polyamide in which at least 85 % of the amide.
